I am a beginning teacher who is currently completing an additional course about student assessment.
For my current project, I am examining the effects (on student performance) of traditional assessment methods, such as tests and essays compared to more 'authentic' or performance-based assessments, such as constructing portfolios and other hands-on projects.
From your experience, how does your child's performance and attitude change (if at all) based on the method that was used to assess his or her knowledge?
I would love to hear how you feel about assessment, in general, and would welcome any comments!
