President Jim,

The program does exactly what you are asking! You can create as many interests as you want under Volunteers - Administration - Interests and Resources. On that screen you create the interests that people can select when they are adding themselves to the system (or you are adding them). You can then send emails to people based on those interests that you have created by going to Find Volunteers and searching on that interest.

Hope this helps!

One of the things that I was hoping to be able to use this software for was to send an e-mail to various goups of people, based on a certain criteria.

This option is there, which is great, and for sending out an e-mail to get volunteers for an upcoming event or function, this seems perfect. But there isn't a category for "Active Member" or "PTO COmmittee".

There are certain e-mails that I would not want going out to the entire volunteer database. Specifically the minutes of the meetings, or something like that.

Going even further, it would be an amazing feature if special or more interests could be added. For example, make it so that the administrator could define an interest, such as "Harvest Party Committee", so only those on the committee will get the e-mail. I guess every type of event or function could be added to the program as it is now, but this would need to include double categories, such as "Christmas Party Volunteer" and "Christmas Party Committee member", or something like that.

Without this feature it almost makes more sense to just use Outlook and create an e-mail list for every type of interest, which would make this program less desirable.

Thanks,
PresidentJim
