Since the category is for our own internal budget accounting, and does not affect the bank reconciliation, I wouldn't have any issue changing the category of a cleared transaction. I'd just be certain to also change the category written on the supporting paperwork so there's no inconsistency come audit time.

Luv2shop,

You can go in and edit those items but I would highly recommend making "simulated" journal entries instead. Just make a deposit and a withdrawal for the same amount to change the category. You can even put ADJXXX in the reference number so that you know come bank rec time to just clear those items. Also - when doing the withdrawal you need to make sure to deselect the box that says "Is this reference a check number\

Hi,
I'm a new user of the finance software. I'd like to know if after I've completed a bank reconciliation and closed the month, can I change a category on a transaction? I understand I cannot change an amount.
thanks
