PTO Manager session time

Yeah, CapeDad -- the solution we're hoping for would help in your case. You're right that the actual typing of the body of the email doesn't count, but since you're at the computer -- you would see the pop-up box and clicking the "OK" in the pop-up box would count.

The frustrating part is that entering data, like on a schedule or the body of an e-mail, does not seem to count as activity until you hit save or send.

I always copy my e-mails to clipboard just in case I was logged out.

It would be nice to have a pop-over to tell you that your session expired, too, incase you were afk and in the middle of a giant e-mail.

Or maybe an auto-save?

If you don't expect too much from me, you might not be let down. <img src=images/smilies/smile.gif>

Debbieomi,

The thought is to have a warning message pop up to tell you that you about to be logged off. You will be able to click on something to say "keep me logged in". Very much like the way many banks have it set up. You will have a certain amount of time (30 seconds) to click on the "keeped me logged in". This is not set in stone yet so we are open to input.

What you are suggesting (I think) won't work because that would keep sessions open for unlimited time. This is both a security risk (you walk away from a school computer and don't log out) as well as a drain on the system. In our proposal if you are working in Manager and then get a phone call, you will see a warning asking you your intentions. If you don't respond you will be logged out. BUT... Saving on a regular basis - regardless - is always a great practice!!!

I really hope this happens soon. I lost thirty minutes worth of input this afternoon when I went to save it and it told me I had been logged out. I am just not use to being logged out of a site after 15 minutes of inactivity. It's very frustrating. Will the warning be on the screen upon return to it? Please say "yes"!
Thanks so much!

Debbieomi,

There is not a way for you to control that setting. For web based applications, you need to log folks out after a certain time period or else you end up with a performance drain b/c many people forget to logout. The current setting is 15 minutes. We are looking at an enhancement that warns folks before they are logged out. It is on the list of potential changes!

Is there a way to set your own time for how long you can be away from your manager window without your session expiring? Thanks!
