Yeah -- need to second Critter's message. You've got to look at our Finance Manager software. It's made expressly for parent group treasurer's and: 1) will make your life very easy; and 2) (sometimes overlooked) will make the transition between you and then future 9and so) treasurers very, very easy and efficient.
No woirrying about having the right version of Quicken or training the new treasurer on Quicken. Plus all of your leaders can look-in to your books (password-protected, look-only access) at any time from any Internet-connected computer.
Linda - welcome to the wonderful world of PTO Treasuring (been there, done that as they say). My single best piece of advice? Get your PTO to purchase the PTOToday Treasurer Toolkit. It's full of specific guidelines and even has a cd of electronic tools. Also sign up for the free trial of PTOManager software (here). And of course, spend some time reading past posts here. There's lots of insight from other treasurers. Have fun!
I have just become the treasurer of our school PTO and would like some help with a spreadsheet for our monthly treasurer report. I also need advice on good tips etc for being the treasurer.
