I guess I'm not sure exactly how I am going to use the distinction yet,but I want the option. Part of the reason is political... our parent group is a PA or Parent Association and hasn't cooperated very well in the past with the teachers. Of course I am trying to change that, but I have to be sensitive to how teachers are precieved - even in our database system.
Why not just 'add a student' with the first name 'teacher' or Mr/s. or something else unique to set them apart from the students on the list?
We tag teachers using the 'interests' page so I can e-mail and track just teachers or just staff members who have registered with us. (I also have a parent/guardian tag.)
We also use a field for titles ie chair or president.
If you don't expect too much from me, you might not be let down. <img src=images/smilies/smile.gif>
There are ways of distinguising teachers using custom fields or interests but I would need to understand exactly what you are trying to accomplish in order to give you the best solution.
As for "attaching" teachers to a classroom, there is not a built in way within the system but I could work with you on a workaround if I had a better understanding of your ultimate goal.

Many of our teachers are involved as volunteers, and I want to include them in the database in a way that distinguishes them from our parent volunteers and also attaches them to their classes without needing to "add a student". Is there a way that exists already? Anyone have ideas?
