Daddio--Have you customized your "interests and availability" screen (step 2 of the volunteer section)? We listed all our events and committees there (bingo, teacher appreciation, etc.) so if someone expresses an interest in helping with something, it is checked there. Then the chair for that event searches on "interests" to find all the people who said they were interested in bingo (for example), contacts them to find out specifics of when they are available, then assigns them to the event.
CapeDad is correct, volunteers can only be added to an event through the event section by selecting the "recruit volunteers" button.
We did that intentionally based on feedback we received. Volunteers can however update their interest to express their desire to get involved in a particular event. Hopefully when staffing an event, groups will search to see who is interested in that type of event.
Is there a way to add a volunteer to an event from their "volunteer" screen? We have a lot of people that specifically ask to be involved in certain things, and from what I can see we can only update their time/day availability.
