budget

This year at our annual budget meeting, our PTO board voted on using a Puchase Order system and expense reports.

All purchases made over $100 must be approved by the treasure and at least two board members before being made.

Anyone who purchases items for an event that is under $100 must use an expense report with receipts attached to receive a refund. This expense report must be approved by a board member.

Occasionally things come up at the last minute and a quick decision must be made, but everyone stays in contact with each other and so everyone is on the same page!

Also, we are very strict about following our budget. We understand that some events will go over budget but every attempt is made to keep things within budget.

no, we are not really in debt but the way some board members seem to spend the $$ I wanted to present the ? and the possibly answer in order to make the board members take the budget more seriously. when its not coming from your pocket it seems so much easier to spend ya know? I have tried to tighten the reins but some people just don't get it. thanks

Is your entire PTO really in debt? To whom? Or is it individual accounts that have overspent their budgets? If your PTO is in debt, I haven't any idea who owns the responsibility...probably a legal matter. ugh! Fundraise quickly! If your committees have overspent, then it's time to tighten/enforce the rules. Can you provide more details?
