Yeah, JHB, I will chime in. I agree completely with your assessment and that of PTA in Ohio.
The Shows are definitely open to all parent group leaders and we've been proud to host lots of PTA leaders at our past Shows.
The best thing to do, I think, is to visit the agenda page for the Show in your area (www.ptotoday.com/shows/agenda.html
). I think you'll notice a) a great selection of practical sessions; and b) sessions that will be helpful for all parent group leaders, no matter the acronym.
I imagine Tim (the Publisher) will chime in, but I've always understood he started PTO Today to benefit parent groups - any type, size, shape, or form - interested in mutual collaboration. Thus anyone would be welcome.
I believe the magazine, the website, the Forum, and the shows are intended to be a resource for any parent group. PTA just happens to be one particular type.
From what I've seen, you'd be welcome. The more the merrier!
I'm pretty sure there's no problem, BCmom. We went to the show last year in Ohio and had a great time. There's nothing really PTA specific or PTO specific. The sessions were good for any parent group. We had a good time.
