HELLO AND WELCOME! I am the pres of our PTA and we have a budget line (which is also required) for training and conventions. We include in these budget lines travel expenses, lodging expenses, food and non- alcholic beverages only (3- hotel restaurant or fast food meals a day- No very expensive restaurants)..All trips must be board approved. We also look at the least expensive way to travel..For example- we live about 8 hrs from where our state convention was held- it was cheaper and longer to drive there and back with a rental car, than it was to fly. (flying was faster but more expensive) so we left 3am and drove to the convention.
We put down enough to pay the basic expenses and nothing more- Example we allow 1000 for state convention, 2000 for national convention, and 800 for training and workshops. We have come under budget so far in each of these items..Alos by making sure we travel the least expensive way sometimes we can send more than 1 person..

I am recently new to PTO Today. I have seen many articles about the PTO Show 2002. What I do not understand is how everyone affords the travels expenses. Does each person attending pay their own way?? I live in Texas and i can't imagine asking our PTO to fund the trip nor could i afford to pay myself. I would love to attend, any ideas on funding travel expenses?
