Though we have never been in this position, I see your side. I hope you quoted your bylaws as part of your response. I would also suggest she ask the principal for permission to hold an informative meeting at the school for all parents to get their support.

As President of our PTO, I received a request from the local teacher's union representative to "provide information regarding our current contract status with the school district, answer your questions, and secure your support for the teaching staff."
I have rejected this request because our By-Laws state that our organization is educational, non-sectarian, and non-partisan. In addition, the name of the organization shall not be used for partisan political interest.
Of course, I want to avoid getting between the teacher's union and the school district during their labor dispute.
But, did I do the right thing in denying an agenda item to the teacher's union?
