Thanks to all of you who wrote to me regarding the situation with our Pastor - I have all of your correspondence and will bring it with me to our Executive Committee on April 5th. I Just
spoke with our Treasurer who said that a letter regarding this issue is coming out in May - I still have not been formally told of this change - guess they're taking the chicken's way out and letting the letter speak for them!
We cannot talk to the CFO and inquire about this because it would get back to the Pastor and then were screwed!
Apparently it is a done deal that they will have ONE Parish account - we need to make sure that we are solely acountable for OUR funds!
Will let you know what happens. Many thanks for your advice!

Don't strike, effectivly complain to the people that matter. Remember our priests now have a higher standard to live by according to the Church and Rome. In someways this is how the whole scandal in Boston is helping. No more do we feel we HAVE to listen because it's Fatherand he said so.
Say Christine, what is stopping you from calling the Diocese and asking if this is true!
Now the Pastor is once again saying that the Diocese CFO is making all Parish money go into one pot and that our PSA will no longer be ALLOWED to have our own checking account.
Okay, that's worse than calling your kid on a little lie but this is something you need to get answers for and if you need to start at the top....hey! when we need a prayer answered we tend to start at the "top" I would explain your situation at it's current state and ask what their policies are and ask how can you protect your hard earned funds IF Father is right.
by the way....thank you, thank you for all you are doing! Hang in there.....
Sorry about your Pastor situation. I guess that goes on all over, just waiting until their term is up, then they get an extension. Hold on!
Are you incorporated?
Our principal let us know he personally didn't agree with our stand on our recent referendum; we didn't take sides, we promoted to get out and vote.
He said he understood our stand and backed us publicly, but disagreed personally.
That is his right. But our bylaws reign.
We are our own corporation. No one individual can dictate anything to us.
Oh boy, I don't know where you need to start. New by-laws perhaps? This is a situation unique to a private school such as ours. Our checking account is controlled by the school's business manager but the principal won't go just writing checks out of it. Expenses have to be approved. BUT...our Finance Committee feels that our PTO funds should be "theirs" to use...they're ticked off we can raise so much money and they can't get their hands on it.
I think you need to see about re-gaining total control of your checkbook. If he has ideas for spending , he needs to submit them to your group for approval.
