You might want to try talking to other PTO's in your area. Some of the schools in our district have some awsome events, it just really depends on the involement.
The surveys I have done were specific to what I wanted to know. Just ask the questions you want answers to or introduce yourself to some of the teachers and ask them about their experiences with your PTO and if they have been at other schools how are the two different. I got a lot of good comparison feedback at the beginning of the year and I think it has helped some things get adjusted to suit everyone better. Good luck.
The irony of commitment is that it’s deeply liberating-in work, in play, in love. The act frees you from the tyranny of your internal critic, from the fear that likes to dress itself up and parade around as rational hesitation. To commit is to remove your head as the barrier to your life. --Anne Morris
There is very little communication between the teachers and our PTO. I know they expect a Teacher's Luncheon (they've always had one funded by the PTO), but they never really say much of anything else. Our PTO uses money to help out the school with awards, school improvements, and such, but I think there's so much more we could do if they'd ask. I'm new to the PTO but the prez says it's always been like that. Does anyone have a teacher survey they've used before to start generating some thoughts/suggestions from the teachers? Our principal has invited me to their meeting tomorrow afternoon - HELP!
