How far can our principal go?

How far can our principal go? was created by <LScraggz>
I am this years PTO president at our small rual school and we have gotten a new principal this year in which I am trying very hard to work with. But from the first day she went through our books and told me how she wanted our money spent and I said fine I'll compromise and did what she wanted. Now I go to get our mail from the PTO mail box and it has been opened by her, is this legal for her to open our mail? She opens our bank statements and invoices of things we have ordered. It is really starting to get on my nerves. But she also steps in and takes over our PTO meetings while I'm trying to go through our agenda can she do this? When I try to plan a fundraiser the first thing she points or lets me know is that she has no money to give us and that's fine because I've never asked her for a dime. She makes me feel incompetant to run PTO even though I am very proud that we have raised over $10,000 since September. If there is anyone who could tell me how to handle this situation and tell me how much control does she have over PTO. I want to say something to her but I'm not sure if I can or if I should and I don't want to cause a conflict between our school and PTO.
