I agree. You did the right thing. I'm sure you go above and beyond the call of duty, but you don't want to be singled out. Just let her know that the thought was worth so much more then the money!
Yes, I think so! The volunteers at our school work hard, but never expect to be compensated for any of it! I think the teacher was a little bit out of line offering you the money. It's a shame that he or she couldn't offer it as a donation to your organization, instead!
I checked my box at school today and found a nice note from a teacher along with a $25.00 check. The note in so many words thanked me for the hard work I put in and she said she knew I did not get paid for what I do and wanted to give me the $25.00 to compensate for my work. I did track her down and tell her I did not feel I should take the money because I do the work for the kids and for self-satisfaction. I need to mention that she and I speak often, but I have never done anything for her diretly as a volunteer. I think I may have offended her by not taking the "gift". I let my principal know about this and told her I gave her the money back. I did not tell the principal which teacher it was. Did I do the right thing? :confused:
