It was announced sometime last year that our 1-6 students did very well when we grouped all of our students by reading groups. There was a set time when students would change classes and have a specific teacher for reading. They then decided to continue this by grouping our kids for their classes this year. There are 75 students in each grade, and students were grouped according to their Reading MEAP scores from last year. This is permanent placement for the remainder of the school year.
This is one step toward completing the Goal of Operation Breakthrough which is to get all students at the standard reading level for their age group. Before I voice any opinions or questions I would love feedback from other parents/teachers/administrators.
