Tarts are like a pie, but with less crust. hehe had to chuckle since tart is also a euphemism for a not very proper woman if you get my drift.
How about TREATS for teachers?
Normally, we don't do anything for the teachers like this except during Staff Appreciation week. Not to say that we don't do other things all year long for them. The point behind doing the Muffins, Donuts and Goodies(for grandparents) is to get the whole family involved in a child's school. The teachers are a given, the parents are not.
Once a month, our Hospitality committee hosts "Teachers Need Thanks" (TNT). Each month,we would prepare either desserts, or snack foods, or even main courses. It all goes in the teacher's lounge and the teacher's love it.
Our volunteers have done a potluck for the past 2 years. The PTO furnishes paper plates and utensils. The first year we had a certian type of day. (Monday-Italian Day etc.) But this year we just brought in some stuff. Main dishes, desserts, and everything. I sent out info telling everyone we were going to do this. The only problem was everytime a staff member would see us it was hard to get away from them because they were thanking us so much.
We always give our teachers and staff a personal invitation to each and every event. We include enouraging words that let them know who much it means to the kids to get to introduce them to Dad or Mom at these events. We usually end up with 6 - 10 teachers and staff members at every event. It's not 100% participation but it gets better with each event. At our Fall Carnival we give them a coupon for a free dinner for 2 and 20 tickets for the game booths.
I asked one of our teachers what her favorite TA gift was and she mentions how each of them loved the cappachino (sp?) and muffin they found on thier desk one morning! We also did a carry-in (by the PTO for the teachers) very simple, sloppy joes, hotdogs, corn, chips, veggie pizza, fresh fruit, oreo dessert, & drinks. They loved the break from the school food.

Would love to try the Donuts for Dads & Muffins for Moms for next year (if I can pass it by the PTO Ex. Board tomorrow nite, that is), but does
anyone have any ideas for what we can do for teachers/staff?
Our Ex. Board has been searching for ways to get our teachers and staff more involved in the PTO
next year, and I thought this might be an easy and inexpensive way to reach them.
