Maggie! I know! I know! No one is hollering at me (wouldn't dare!), but I have to say that it does get pretty pissy around Teacher Appreciation time! Right now, I have a 2 week Artist In Residence program running, planning the luncheon for next week, scheduling Book Fair (next week), Field Day for the students, Awards Assemblies and my regular day-to-day stuff I gotta get done (contracts to be signed for next years fundraiser been sitting on my desk for a week), and I've got teachers looking at me sideways wondering why I haven't gotten down to their classrooms to record student reading activities (not my job in the first place). Did any one of the teachers, aides, custodians, cafeteria workers, support staff, etc. remember me last week? NO. Did I expect it? NO. Well, not until they started complaining. You could do what I did with my sister (who has never sent a birthday gift or card in her life but always reminds you of her dates...lol)... I told her that she was getting about the same thing she sent me on my last birthday...she says "I didn't get you anything" I said "Right". Or... you could chalk up the attitudes as being into the last 3 weeks of school and everyone is tired and cranky. Prozac supplies are depleted. Smile! I can stand on my head for 3 weeks.... Wow! We are just doing one staff appreciation day that covers everyone. It's tomorrow and we are doing a luncheon. I have a hard enough time getting volunteers for one function, much less four or five!

hi guys, today was very interesting. I was yelled at by the custodian because she isn't happy that we are having cafeteria appreciation day and custodian appreciation day on the same day. (I have no idea what the issue is but apparently there is an issue), then someone decided to leave the pta a note saying that the were disappointed that we were not recognising the teacher's aides since they work so hard. (yet, they didn't have the guts to sign it, so I have no clue who is mad) However, if they paid attention, they would know that next week is for everyone who "teaches" the kids and that includes the kindergarten aides, the special ed people, the computer people, the art/music/gym teachers and the librarians! All they had to do was ask me (I'm in the school enough and they all know who I am) but nooooooooo. I would like to say "Hey, we don't have to appreciate anyone if y'all are going to get annoyed by it. Or something like, not like y'all take the time to say thanks to the VOLUNTEERS..... not that I would actually say that to them, because for the most part I think that most of them do appreciate the volunteers and don't see any difference between the "teacher" and the "teacher's aide" but obviously somewhere along the line...... ARRRRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!
ok, I'm done venting, they will all still get their presents even though I'm ticked. [img]smile.gif[/img] maggie
