Ideas for Teacher Appreciation Week

We do a number of things for our teachers for teacher's appreciation. We have a breakfast in the fall where there is juice, muffins, fruit, etc. (not real fancy but a pre-packaged treats they can grab on the go during breaks) We have a luncheon catered by a favorite restaurant. We also use Market Day (a food purchase program) as a fund-raiser. During the month where Pies are the promotion, we purchase a pie (teacher's choice) for each teacher. This gives the teacher something nice for their family and helps us get into higher profit percentages during that month. It really is a win-win. We have also decorated flower pots and filled them with all kinds of candy and trinkets. They can later use it for pencils, etc on their desk. We have also found local crafts folks that are starting a business to make different items teachers might like. This helps a beginning home business and the teachers have a nice treasure. I think that the best teacher appreciation that I have heard of is when the kids put it together. If a parent could go into the class and have the kid's write notes to the teacher and then put that together in a book for the teacher, they are usually wonderful tear-filled memories. Especially if the parent tells the kids to say what they like about this teacher. The kids' words are priceless. If the kids are too young to write a video may be done. Good luck. It doesn't take alot of $ just some time...

Last year for teacher appreciation week we did different things each day. Day 1 we had bookmarks with a note attached that said "Teacher's leave a huge mark on a child's life". Day 2 we gave them a key ring with a note that said, "Teachers are the key to unlock a child's potential". Day 3 we gave them a votive candle wrapped in mesh with a note that said "Teachers light the way for our children". Day 4 we gave them mints wrapped in mesh with a note that said "Our teachers are worth a mint". On the last day we gave each teacher and all staff members (including our wonderful crossing guards) a gift certificate to Applebee's. It was relatively inexpensive to do the small treats and I just made up the verses and put them on gift tags using different clip art and fonts. I bought the mesh at the fabric store on clearance and attached everything with ribbon. They were very happy and looked forward to getting the treats every morning in their mail boxes....the school secreatary helped us out with that by putting everything in the boxes before they got there in the morning. :D

I am the Vice-President of the PTO in a school with only 3rd and 4th grade classes.
We need some ideas for Teacher Appreciation Week. Last year we gave the teachers and others (janitors,Busdrivers,Cafeteria-workers,Secretaries) every day something during this specific week. Either an apple with a poem or something like a little pack of gum with the note "Thanks for sticking with us" on it.
Any ideas like that would be appreciated.

Thanks !
