I am a positive person and always try to look on the bright side of things. I am getting a little frustrated though. This is my 3rd year on the PTO board and honestly, I am the main one that does everything. I LOVE this site and love the ideas that are shared here. However, when I mention them to the Principal, I always get shot down with an excuse. For example, I have been talking about doing a Boo Hoo Yahoo Breakfast (got the idea here!) since last year. This morning I emailed about getting a letter written to the parents about doing the breakfast. The response I got was that the funds are low and PTO is suppose to provide things for the school. There would be no where to have the breakfast on top of not using the funds. This is just one example of many that I get. I have wanted to do a movie night....excuse is that it is against the law. I am always wanting to do things to get other parents and families involved with the school and meet each other, but I always get the "no!" I am not the fundraising coordinator but since we don't have one, I do that too. I feel like I work a full time job with the PTO getting money and then when I want to do something fun for everyone, it is always a no.
Sorry, I guess I need to vent alot but does anyone else have this problem? Does anyone have any suggestions? Sometimes I want to throw in my apron but then the Principal reminds me that if I quit then we will not have a PTO at all. I guess I am a little soft so I just stick with it. I do like our Principal and LOVE our school, I just get disappointed alot.
