On the evening of our parent-teacher conferences we serve our teachers and staff so that they do not have to leave the building. Previous years it had been catered but last year we did a soup & salad theme that they loved. So we are doing it again this year. We divide up the items that we need from tableware to pop and ask the parents to donate the items. It has been a great success for us.
For the past couple of years we have done Olive Garden. We order soup, salad and bread sticks. We also set up tables with fancy china, and real silver ware. We also serve drinks in gobblets and decorate tables with flowers. Staff seems to love it!
We serve the teachers/staff three times a year. For our first, the main dish will be chicken chili. Our next one will be Mexican food -- probably a fajita bar with all the fixings. Not sure about the one in late April; probably warm weather food like chicken salad sandwiches, fruit, and cold salads.
We hold two large appreciation luncheons. Our first one is soups and breads on Nov 18th. Sooo easy to make soup put it in a crock pot and keep it warm. We also ask that parents include the recipes and pass those on to the teachers, who were really grateful for them!
I am loving the idea of having one a month with the classes hosting/bringing in the donations! That is a great idea and one I am going to be bringing to our next meeting!
