I am currently the treasurer for a PTO organization. Our group covers 3 schools. For the last several years, we have been operating as two organizations under the one umbrella (two operating boards, bank accounts, etc.) but obviously we still file as one legal entity. I believe it makes sense to look at splitting the organization into two, but I do not know the legal or potential tax ramifications.
