A family stopped payment (not bounced) on a check for our recent fundraiser in the amount of almost $400. When told they would not receive their product until the funds were received, they made a plausible excuse and promised to bring a new check. Fast forward to product pick up day...mom swears she brought a new check to school and it has cleared her bank. We had no choice but to give her the products, but asked for copies of the check. No one has seen said check. I have left her another message asking for a copy of the front and back so we can "verify who cashed it." None of us believe there actually was a check. Do we have any recourse short of getting very ugly???
