Our PTO after being in existance for over 25 years is applying for 5013c status. We are also incorporating in the state of Massachusetts. The Articles of Orgainzation for applying to the state for incorporating purposes seems to be a fill in the blank pdf from the Attorney General's Office; however, when filling out Form 1023 for the IRS for 5013c status, the form asks for very specific items which are supposed to be in the Articles of Organization.
So can we submit our Articles of Organization from the state (Chapter 180) and then submit our By-Laws which are very detailed and do indeed contain all the necessary items and clauses that the IRS is looking for?
Any help with the dual process of incorporating and applying for 501c3 status in GREATLY appreciated.
