There are tons of posts on audits just do a search. They are not required by law but are probably the smartest thing you can do for your organizations credibility. They can be done by anyone but someone usually has some sort of expereience (the gentleman who volunteered to do ours has done church audits, and is an accountant). Get in the mode of doing them now, and reporting the results (mistakes happen, best to admit them)... but truly read the posts for the good, the bad and the ugly....d

Does anyone know if an external annual audit of the accounts is required by law? If yes, who does this stuff? Even if not required, is it advisable? We are a relatively new PTO and want to do the right thing! As far as we know there hasn't been anything so far.
