I can tell you from experience you will lose members if she continues this way. We got down to ONE participating member last year because our president was a lot like yours. People lose interest if they don't have a say and feel that decisions are already made by the time they get to a meeting. The president's job is to PRESIDE over the group and see that it runs smoothly, not make all of the decisions on her own. Let the rest of the board members know what the consequences of her behavior could be and hopefully they will grow a spine and back you up.
It amazes me that people don't say what needs to be said because they don't want to make waves when all you are really doing is just buying yourself more trouble down the line. Just be polite, diplomatic, and up beat.
we had this problem for the last three years and alot of our members quit coming because of it. first i would show her the bylaws exactly where it states that. someone needs to bring to her attention. maybe she isn't aware of it? if she's not aware of it, it could be solved within minutes and no hard feelings. in our organization, i had to step in and take the presidency to get things on track. if it's not addressed, it COULD get bad and alot of hard feeelings could get started. its always best to get it out in the open asap. good luck!
I am having trouble with the new President of our PTO. I am a board member and we have had 2 board meetings so far. At both meetings the President told us what she had made executive decisions regarding what to do for the year and didn't even put it to a vote. She also disregarded members of the boards concerns regarding certain issues that came up. I read the bylaws and we are supposed to vote and she cannot vote unless it is a tie. I have brought this up to the other members of the board and they all feel the same way, but will not persue it. I feel that we need to be uninited regarding this or one of us will be the bad guy. How do I handle this with out making it turn out bad?!
