This is not my first post about our PTO, but it seems as if things have only gotten worse over the summer.....Let me take you back a few months. I was on the PTO Board and resigned before the end of my term. I was so frustrated with the way things were being run and teacher complaints that went on deaf ears. When asking for a treasurer's report at the last meeting I was told in front of the entire group that they "did not have to provide one to me or anyone else". After sending every board member a letter with a written request for the same and a review of the books, a CPA audit, review of bylaws, etc. and a date to respond of 60 days, I have not received anything and the deadline this summer has come and gone. The by laws were re-written this summer without the approval of the "general membership". The Principal is in agreement with the Board. They tell me that they are "PTO" and 501(c)3, and do not have to answer to my requests because we are "NOT PTA". In fact I have been told that they can remove me from membership??

I know it is my right to have a treasure's report, I now suspect fraud, as the PTO Pres and the Treasurer are relatives. Where do I go from here? Better Business Bureau? IRS? Local police? :confused:
