List of Offices

You should also check out the Charter or by-laws from any number of PTOs either from links on this site or do a google search. You should be able to quickly find several good examples. Take the best of what you find and adapt it to how your group wants to organize. (Do this with as many of the interested parents as possibly - it takes more time but the exchange of ideas and collaboration will make you a better team/PTO in the long run).

Ours are located here:

www.macarthurschool.com/pto.htm

and then click on the link for the Approved Charter on the right hand side. Most of the information you are looking for is in Section V. Executive Board.

Good luck! It must be fun to start a group "the right way" (whatever that means ;) from scratch!

Hi Pollywog,

Check out the Bonus Tools section of this PTO Today site. In the Resource Links area, there is 'an exhaustive list of sample bylaws links' to look at. Most bylaws will outline the executive board (officers) and their duties.

Good luck to you and your school! What an exciting opportunity to start a new parent group.

My child is attending a new school. There are no pre-set offices because this is the very 1st year the school has existed. Where can I find a list of offices and the duties they entail? Thanks!
