But if we did required paid memberships, it seems to me whenever you pay is when you get all rights and benefits of membership. Why would a PTO turn money away?
Ditto above. We did away with dues a few years ago. And even when we had dues, it didn't matter when you paid, at that time you were considered a member.
I second CrewChief. At my school you are automatically a member by having a child in the school or are a staff member, too. No matter what time of year.
I suppose different schools have different rules. Check your groups bylaws/constitution to see what they use to define membership.
At my school, you're automatically a member if you are a staff member or are the parent/guardian of an enrolled student - regardless of the time of year that happens.
