It sounds like there is a bit of room for interpretation of the bylaws. They should be clarified.
Without seeing the full wording, I would expect that if someone has been the Pres for the last 2 school years (i.e., started in September of 2004), then that person would not be eligible to be elected Pres this May for next school year.
Our Charter has similar restrictions (no more than 2 consecutive 2-year terms). But it also defines how long a person needs to be out of the position before they are eligible to serve in it again.
Our PTO just approved their bylaws in March,
it states in the bylaws that no person can chair a seat more than 2 year in a row.. My question is that in the May election does the year of the seat start fresh since? Some of us would like there to be new Pres. and Vice Pres. Confused on what is right and wrong?
