It depends on what your by-laws state. 30 days notice is correct & yes, you definitely wanted to list all the positions that will be opening up. Anybody who has a child in our school can nominate another but the person who nominates & the one being nominated has to be present at that meeting. The nominee also has to be present at the vote. You'd have to refer to your by-laws about an "outsider" (has no child in the school or doesn't work there)filling a position. I know some ptos don't allow for that. If that's the case, you may want to make an amendment to allow for that. Good luck!!!

I have a question...we have a board...a wonderful board...and we currently have folks interested in coming back together in one position or another to fill it. One of the fills is an outside person from the PTO who is happy to fill the Treasurers position. The treasurer, a wonderful woman, is interested in getting out of the financials and is willing to become one of the VPs (the one is leaving because of multiple commitments to children at many schools). SO, I have already placed a statement in our Feb newsletter encouraging folks that they can run for a PTO position, and letting them know how...and sent out emails to our membership with the same message...
-do I have to form a nominating committee or is the notice enough...
-am I being true to RR by publishing a slate of positions and the volunteers and allow folks to do a "write in" if they care too...
-is publishing the voting meeting 30 days in
advance enough?

Advice from you smart guys please...d
