Several years ago I got involved with my kids school with several other parents and we revamped a dead PTO. It was alot of work and frustration but I felt like things were good. Anyway, last year my husband became very ill and I left the PTO. My VP was going to take over my pres roll and we had a treasurer and secretary already. Last year was alot of change for the school, we had a new principal who was taking her first principal job.
Anyway the fight was on and I couldn't take the heat at the time. Somehow over last year the group fell apart little by little and a new group came in. This group is out of control!! They tell the teachers what to do, want to get the principal fired, and love to fight. It is all comming to a head right now and the central office is involved and doing an investigation into the group. They failed to deposit fundraiser money for four days, just let it sit in the office because they did not want to deposit the money yet. Big no no because the PTO is under the school umbrella.
Now the big issue is, I have been asked to come in for an interview from central office. I'm okay with that but the problem is I really want to pick my PTO baby back up and fix it agian. I know how to start over and I have the same old group who would come back agian. I know there are real issues with the principal that started the fight, but the fight is truly affecting the kids. Pickle and Popcorn has been and on agian off agian deal, AR awards do not have their money yet, along with all the other things we used to pay for. PTO has honestly put off business just to wage war on our school and I am tired of it. I literally turn around and go into the nearest classroom when I see one of the board members walking down the hallway!
Should I go into this interview with a plan, or should I just let the group be disbanded?
