Not sure if all re sale shops work the same. If we did it here, we'd run into the problems of not all the things "selling". And not all selling at the same time. Some stores are more organized than others, around here atleast, some will hold on to that stuff for a while--and if it doesn't sell--you still have to come take it away, or else they will then have it taken away to a charity or thrown out. You may not make as much money as you thought.
I'd probably go the direct route and just give it to a local shelter or such. Much less work. And ya know what, I can see a big problem in the not to distant future, of local charities/shelters that are in need, taking a back seat to Katrina. We have some shelters here that operate hand to mouth, on a normal basis. It's a tough call, for sure. Where to send things.
We had a large clothing drive for the hurricane victims, advertised to help those staying in our community. Does anyone see any issues with taking what was not taken by victims to a resale shop and then donating the funds generated to Hurricane relief? I can't see any concrete problem about it, but something is nagging at me about it.
