You may be able to answer my question...we are taking in donations, both cash and material, to assist the hurrican victims that are here in Houston, and more immediately that are enrolled at our school. Would the things people donate be tax-deductable by the PTO? In other words, do I give them a receipt that has the PTO tax-id # on it? What about clothing, food, diapers, etc...? Thank you!
I have a donation form you can use. You can email me at mum24kids at hotmail dot com (put "need donation receipt" in the subject line)and I'll send you a copy. Maybe I'll see if Tim can load it up on the site as well.
We are a PTO that is filing for tax exempt status. In preparing for acceptance (our fingers are crossed!) I would like to start planning ahead by drawing up a charitable contributions form, both for cash received and for goods received. I honestly have no idea what needs to go into the form though! We want to make sure we keep accurate records. I'd appreciate any help!! Thanks!
