Voting on spending proposals, can I keep them together?

This is all coming at the end of the meeting under "New Business". I think I will have the Headmaster present both items and we will consider them separately.

We consider each item separately, but we delay all funding votes until almost the last item on the agenda. (Presentation/Discussion occurs earlier.) This allows us to have all the financial requests in mind when in comes time to vote - just in case there's not funds for everything.

Thanks for the insightful answers. Option #2 is going to get people riled up. I was hoping I could package them together but I guess it sounds like we should vote on them separately.
Thanks

Is there any opposition to either of these proposals? If not, combining them into one package should be fine.

I saw once before when 2 items were tied into one proposal. They had done it purposely because the 1 item was a absolute must have that everyone was for and the other item was not a neccesity that many people were against. In the end it backfired on them. Everyone knew why the 2 items were connected under one proposal and it made people really angry and in the end they had to go back to the drawing board and start all over again with 2 seperate proposals.

My opinion is to put them up to vote seperately. I would not mix the apples with the oranges myself.

Tuesday we are voting on 2 spending proposals. I am hoping to vote on them as a package:
1) $10,000 for new textbooks (we are a private school)
2) $3,000 to help defer the cost of an athletic director at the school.

Can I present them as a package? How should I do this? I prefer that they be voted on together..can I do that?

Experts?
Shelly
