The only way to know is to check your bylaws. You will have to look at them to see if it specifically is stated within that officers must have a child currently in the school.
He is willing to stay on so that we aren't left in a lurch.
That says that he is staying out of responsibility of duty as opposed to desire to be president. Even if your bylaws do not make him ineligible to hold the position why not try and replace him? Do you have another accebtable person willing to take on the Presidency? If so then why not just let this guy out of the office. You can certainly hold an election in September or October to replace him.
Hello everyone, new here with a question.
We had our elections for PTO officers at the end of the year last year. We voted the current president for a second year. Well over the summer, him and his wife(who is a teacher at our school) decided to move their child to the school district in which they live. My question is, can this man still be our PTO president even though he does not have a child in the school? His wife is still a teacher there but we aren't sure how this is supposed to go and if it's even allowed for him to be president without his child being enrolled in the school. He is willing to stay on so that we aren't left in a lurch. We have several projects going right now. We just don't know if he CAN stay on.
