In our PTO when only one person wants the position there is no vote. There is only an acknowledgment and an oppurtunity made available for anyone else to conteset. My personal opinion would be not to put her name on the paperwork and at your first meeting let it be known that she would like the position. I would ask if anyone else wants the position speak now or forever hold your peace and then swear her in.

Our PTO votes on the Executive Board slate for the upcoming school year at the last General Membership meeting of the previous school year. A member has come forward after the slate was approved (and after school was let out for the summer) to fill the open Co-President position. How should we handle this with summer mailings and communication for the first few weeks of school? Since the Co-President position was technically vacant at the end of the year, should we put "Pending" or "TBD" on all communication or put the member's name with an asterisk noting "pending Membership vote at the September General Membership meeting"? Has this ever happened to someone else? Thanks!
