I can definately understand how something could get planned thinking there would be money and then not. When the pres does something like get reimbursed for expensive pastries when everyone else bakes, things like that happen. That's our story anyhow.
Have you had a Golf tourney in the past? I am not really familiar with golf...anything. I think that is a good way to get dads involved I would hate to see you totally do away with it if you can help it. Perhaps you can get an outside donation to help or just postpone it until you get the money to have it.
I am assuming you are saying that you can't have a tournament with out any funds to support it???? In that case whatever committee they formed would be moot point anyway and the folks on that committee should easily be able to understand that.
In your bylaws it should state what % of the majority is needed on a vote to pass something. Check them out and see what it says. If this is something you are financially not capable of doing then it really should just be understood and not really need a vote.
When these folks decided to plan this event it did not occur to them that they would not have the money to do it?
We are a new PTO board for the 2004-2005 year. We have just found out we have 0 in the budget. At the year end meeting they voted on a golf tournament sub-committe. Can this vote be reversed by the new board?
