Probably not. It's usually games of chance (bingo and raffles) that have more oversight and sometimes require permits. But you'd need to check with your specific state.
Go to your state website www.state.xx.us
(replace the xx with your 2 letter state abbreviation)and search for information on "auctions". If you can't find anything, it's probably okay. Or, search for "bingo". The same people would likely monitor it (if it's monitored). You should be able to call them with questions.
Our PTO is trying to plan our Back to School Bash for 2004-2005. We are looking at doing a silent auction with our potluck, games, etc. Does anyone know if we need a special license to do an auction.
