1023--IRS Needs More Details--Help!

20 years 6 months ago #58484 by kmamom
I feel like a COMPLETE idiot, but naturally the only thing I really overlooked when filing our 1023 was the specific details for the proposed programs we would support. We've alot of programs we'd like to do, but I'm in a quandary in answering their criteria. They said:

The information submitted with your application does not contain sufficeint information in detail to fully describe your porposed activities. In order to recognize you as exempt under sec. 501(c)(3) we must be able to determine that your porpposed activities are excusively charitable. Therefore, please submit a much more detailed description of all your activities. What specific activities, programs etcetera will be used to further education? Indicate the percent of time for each activity.

OK--HELP! Percent of time? Do they mean percent of time in the school with the kids, or the percent of time we'll be DOING the activity as opposed to other things--what do they mean by this?

They also ask for detailed descriptions of activities-- OK, that I can handle, including purpose and how this activity furthers your exempt purpose-- ? . They want where and when proposed activity will take place, and by whom--OK, that I can handle.

I know what I want to do is tax exempt allowable, but where do I find help explaining that the activities we want to do fit into this category of exempt?

ANY help appreciated!!!!
