Hello
My children attend a local private Christian school . Our school is a non profit organization and it's board is made up of parents. I have approached many parents regarding the need of a PTO. The parents decided that it was a positive idea and that we should try to organize one.I have made a written request to the principal regarding the start up and she is presenting it to the board this week.Next month I am to present my case to the board in person.
The problem is that the principal has stated to me and other parents that she does'nt feel a need for the PTO.
I do not know what our by-laws state in relationship to PTO--but I do know that 4-5 years ago a pto was started but it didn't work do to lack of participation.
This is my question--- Does a school board have a right to vote against a PTO? and if they vote against it must I respect this decision. I am trying to prepare for my night in front of the board. I have young children And I have never even been to a PTO meeting but after reading letters to this forum I know our school can benefit---sorry for the long message.
