An article appeared in our newpaper today that the PTA treasure in a nearby town was sentenced for the theft of $25,000 in PTA funds. (I can ask Tim to put a link in the BLOG, but you have to provide a lot of personal info for the free registration to see articles in that paper.)
Anyway, I thought you might be interested in the sentence:
1) Pay back the funds
2) 45 days in jail
3) 300 hours washing school buses
4) probation for six years
5) pay for adds in the local newspapers to publish letters of apology, AND
6) she must must hand-write letters of apology to each of the school's 700 students.
The suggested letter format, according to court records, is: "I...am a thief. I stole $25,000 from your PTA. It's shameful that an adult would steal money from kids. I'm sorry I stole it. The judge sent me to jail and made me pay back the money and write this note."
