What this person should be asking is relief from "her" duties as "X" and ask the Board to be allowed to continue to chair the fundrasier to see it through. This way she can 'ligitamitly' keep her chairperson duties for the said fundraiser and after that be completely relieved of her duties and not be bound to attend the meetings.
Now as the President you an refuse to accept her resignation until December when said duties are completed OR inform her that if she is to resign it will be effective immediatly or until said office can be filled (let's say) in December to replace her.
This is all from Robert's Rules of Order and I hope it makes sense. I don't want to make things harder for you but I don't want you to feel like she is "leaving you out in the cold." I personnaly have declined nominations but have asked to remain chair of ativities. It was nice that I was allowed to do that.
I am a new president to the PTO. After some issues with one of the current officers (serving her second term), she has elected to resign. The catch is she wishes to remain an officer through December due to an upcoming fundraiser; however, she will not attend the officer or general monthly meetings. Is there a general rule of thumb to handle the situation the PTO is in? :confused:
