Just got elected to ptso board as treasurer. After looking over some papers realized that ptso and school share a tax #. Checked into some things and guess what? We are one and the same. We are a small private school (200 students or less)and the booster club and ptso share tax i.d. number with the school. Am I the only person who is not liking the sound of this? We gave the school 84,000.00 last year. We had only pledged 60,000.00 to them. We are called whenever the school needs money to make payroll, or needs to pay bonus's. The school is Inc. and is nonprofit in state of SC. Who can tell me what to do first? I don't have a problem giving money to school, that is what it is there for. I don't like being told when I'm going to give it AND it being put in general account, instead of directly who it needs to go to. The treasurer from last year had a problem with the school being able to tell us when they wanted our money. I mean the treasurer from the school board of directors will call the bank and get a balance on our account! Sadly, we didn't get her to sign when we filled out new signature card this year. Boy, was she shocked when she called the bank and was told that she couldn't have access to our balance! Any help would be appreciated.
