Has anyone ever inquired as to the unapproved expenditures since it goes against the by-laws? I think there is an issue with the boards 'fudiciary responsibilities' and they probably need to become aware of them. I'm sure all pto members as well as the students have worked hard to raise the money and should always have a say in how it is spent. I think if enough pto members were upset by this, a resignation could be insisted upon.
Can a current PTO Board flat out disregard previous voting outcomes?
For instance, if something was voted on, and passed, during a general meeting last year or previously this year, can the Board just disregard it now? We voted to continue awarding academics with pencils during our Awards Assemblies, handed out by PTO personnel (voted in last year when I was prez). We allotted money towards that particular program at the beginning of this year (voted in unanimously this year when I was no longer prez). Today was our 2nd quarter awards and not only were there no pencils, but there were no PTO officers either! I used this one example, but it isn't the only one. It appears that everything previously approved (and recorded as approved) is being side lined because the current administration is having cash flow problems (they made plenty of money, they just spent it on stuff not previously approved... they spent it on stuff not taken before the general meetings (everything is supposed to go through the general meetings according to our bylaws).
My question: Just because the current board doesn't like something, can they just blow it off and do what they'd prefer to do? I'm not even talking about not taking current things to a vote, I'm talking about pre-approved items already voted on and recorded as approved.
