Colleg/Career Nights for us have been great!
We partner with our Counseling office and many businesses in the community. We are a middle school with over 1300 students that feeds into two different high schools. We have booths from
each high school to show their programs, technical institutes, community colleges, also a copmputer program that lets students set up many profiles and get info on careers and what is needed to obtain it( how much school, money, time, etc. ) financial aid reps, public and private colleges and our own businesses in the area that offer programs for high school students to earn money or credits for college. We schedule an evening from 6:30-8:30 and the first hour people cruise the booths, then we have a panel for questions made up of the
Counselors from each high school, our district technical program director and a financial aid advisor. We serve refreshments after, it is always hard to get people to go home! So many questions! This year we will give door prizes from some of the businesses and have more microphones in the audience so they don't have to come up front to ask. Also new this year, we are using a FamilyNight kit we found on this website so thanks a bunch! Any other ideas out there? Thanks again. M4middles
