Our PTO gives each teacher a check for $50.00 at the start of each year - this is a gift to the teachers - to help with supplies/treats they purchase throught the year. We have always asked them to provide us with receipts within a (reasonable?)time period. Is this legally necessary? We feel as if we are questioning their integrity - we KNOW they spend this much and more on the kids in a school year. We would like to change the policy but want to make sure we will not be going against some tax rule - Can anyone help?
