First - sorry it's taken me so long to reply to those of you who asked. Everyone who requested in 2003 - I sent them to you today and hope it helps. At the end of last year we moved 1300 miles, and it's taken me this long to catch up on life in general.

Good luck to all who take on this great task that is so rewarding!

I just came on the PTO board at our school. The only elected member is the Treasurer because aparently no one wanted the responisbility of President. We have had some major conflicts. My thought is that there are no Bylaws & maybe with Bylaws some of what has happened my have been avoided. I want something very simple as well. The examples were more than what I was looking for. We are all busy & the simplier the better. So if I could get those Bylaws emailed to me as well that would be great! Thank you so much! Two quick points:

1. You'll find links to dozens of sample bylaws by going to the "useful resources" button at left (on navigation bar) and reading down.

2. Some of these questions are exactly what led us to start the National PTO Network service.

www.ptotoday.com/npn

Among a host of other benefits (like discounts on insurance, access to member's only section of this site, and more), NPN member groups get our comprehensive "expert guides". The first Guide covers all of the start-up issues like bylaws and nonprofit status in great detail. The second Guide -- "PTO Dollars and Sense" -- covers all aspects of managing PTO funds with a particular focus on treasurers and smart policies for protecting your funds. That second Guide will be out this month for NPN member groups.

Helping lots of groups. Hope we can help yours.
