I'm with MyKidsMom (who isn't
My Kid's Mom, but I presume is
Her Kid's Mom...but I digress). Give people a chance to cool down, and then see how many resignations you actually have.

Check your by-laws. Unless they specify otherwise, you would be expected to fill that office. Our by-laws do specify otherwise, as each VP has a specific function that they agree to assume when they run for the office.

quote:
2) What if I don't want to be president?

That's a risk you run by accepting an office of VP.
Seriously, regardless of what the by-laws say, you could probably get away with refusing to move up. I am not sure what Robert's Rules has to say on this matter. As the ranking officer remaining, it would still be your job to arrange for the elections to fill the vacant offices.

quote:
3) Are we supposed to have a new election for president or just for the other offices that become vacant?

Whatever offices remain vacant are the ones you need to fill. Again, check your by-laws. Rather than mess with trying to call a special meeting of the unit, our by-laws state that the board selects who will fill the vacancy.

When you get a good answer to this one, let me know.
