1993 FEDERAL EDUCATION REFORM ACT CITES SCHOOL ADMINISTRATORS AS THE AUTHORITY ??

23 years 9 months ago #55669 by STILL TRYING
Wouldn't it be great if it weren't about laws and rules..but then where/what would we have to oversee society's actions? WE are trying to SIT DOWN AND DISCUSS THE PROBLEM TO THE POINT OF RESOLUTION, together as ADULTS. How can we accomplish such when we encounter such rebuttal/refusal/barriers from the school dept. administrator?
I've seen what a difference our organization has made in the education/lives of our students, thus far. To have a school dept. administrator say there will be no more PTO/parent involvement is not only wrong, but a failing of support to our students' educational process'. Sure we could walk away, but knowing what a difference we have made in our students keeps us going. Maybe it's the look that's displayed on a child's face when they reach an educative goal, such as reading ability acceleration, and knowing you played a part in it that keeps us trying to WORK TOGETHER FOR THE BENEFIT OF OUR STUDENTS?
I only posted a ? relative to our newest obstacle placed in front of us by our school administration dept..

I still think you're going the wrong way. It's not all about the law and rules and stuff, it's about how are you ever going to be a good PTO if you don't get along with the school. What about compromise? If the superintendent wants, he can deny you access to the school for meetings and everything else.

Ok ...I really hate to throw this one out there, but... Has anyone heard of the "fact" [as stated by our school asst. superintindent] that the principal/superintindent have a legal authority presented unto them that THEY are the governing agency in ALL issues and decisions, regardless of what any executive committte of the PTo finds/decides, or the general membership votes as being, according to being specifically cited as such under :
THE FEDERAL EDUCATION REFORM ACT OF 1993??
obviously we are trying to work out a problem and our membership is being told that they have no say in our organization which is not contracted with the school/dept.. if anyone knows how to link into the exact citation of the mentioned law, I would appreciate that also. THANX.
